How to play Ponte Pedo

A free card game for 2 to 8 friends, taking turns on one phone. Guess correctly to give out drinks; guess incorrectly and take them yourself.

Set up a game

Choose Chill for four rounds or Hard for four rounds plus the pyramid. Select 2 to 8 players, enter their names and tap Shuffle & play. Pass the phone after each turn. The game shuffles and deals for you. A = 1, J = 11, Q = 12 and K = 13.

The four rounds

Everyone plays each round before moving to the next. In round one, guess red or black for 1 drink. In round two, guess whether the next card is higher or lower than your first card for 2 drinks. In round three, guess whether it falls strictly between your first two cards or outside them for 3 drinks. In round four, guess hearts, diamonds, clubs or spades for 4 drinks. A tie in rounds two or three counts as a loss.

The pyramid: Hard mode

The deck is shuffled again and each player gets five cards. Eight more cards are revealed in pairs, from the bottom row to the top. The physical LEFT card makes matching players take drinks. The physical RIGHT card lets matching players give out drinks. Match the number or rank, regardless of suit. The bottom pair is worth 1 drink; the following rows are worth 2, 3 and 4. Tap your name to view your hand, then hide it before passing the phone.

Giving out drinks and checking scores

After a correct guess, use the plus and minus buttons to distribute all available drinks among the other players, then confirm. Open the scoreboard to see or correct the amounts taken and given out. Completed games are saved in History on this device, where you can also delete them.

Ride the Bus and variations

Ponte Pedo follows the classic Ride the Bus sequence of card guesses. You can replace drinks with truth-or-dare challenges, water or soft drinks. Agree on the variation before you start. Cards near the middle of the deck make higher-or-lower guesses trickier. The goal is to have fun together at a pace everyone enjoys.
